Eye disease warning

There will be 75m people suffering from blindness worldwide within the next 13 years unless urgent action is taken, according to the UAE's health minister cited by Gulf News. Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami told 2,000 delegates at the opening of the Congress of the Middle East African Council of Ophthalmology that the majority of blindness cases are preventable. He called for an increase in education and training in the Middle East to combat eye diseases in the region.
