Qatar, S. Korea sign MOU to broaden their technical capacity in ICT

ictQATAR and the Ministry of Information and Communication in the Republic of Korea signed today a memorandum of understanding to encourage cooperation.
The MOU was signed at ictQATAR by Dr. Hessa Al Jaber, Secretary General of Supreme Council of Information and Communications Technology and Mr. Rho Jun-Hyung, Minister of Information and Communications in the Republic of Korea.
Dr. Hessa Al Jaber said that the MOU "recognizes the importance of developments in the various areas of ICT and will help Qatar speed up its steps towards building an information society and effectively compete in the global market economy".
"Korea is one of the leading countries worldwide in terms of ICT adoption and people's usage" she added.
The agreement also recognizes the necessity of mutual co-operation for development of state-of-the-art telecommunications services, the dissemination of Internet usage, the conduct of e-commerce, the exchange of information technologies, and the improvement of the quality and range of services for consumers through more effective competition.
Both countries will be guided by their mutual benefit and interest to encourage and support partnerships, research and development in digital content, ubiquitous technologies, e-government, e-health, e-education, and e-commerce.
"We hope to promote reciprocal cooperation, technical development and the expansion of markets in the ICT sector, as well as enhance our cooperative relations in order to be active participants in the global information society" said Dr. Al Jaber.
