- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, March 31 - 2007 at 17:09
- PRESS RELEASE
More than 350 jewellers will occupy 12,000 square metres of exhibition space at the event.
Besides individual participation, the Show will host several national pavilions.
The MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show is considered the region's longest running watch and jewellery event and is widely acclaimed by jewellery connoisseurs for its display of unique and stylish collections.
Year after Year, edition after edition, the show has always been the first in the region to unveil the season's newest jewellery collections.
The coming edition of the Show, a five-day affair, will display diamonds, precious stones, loose pearls, gold and diamond jewellery, diamond and pearl sets, and watches.
Visitors to the Show will be treated to an infusion of beauty, elegance, and fine craftsmanship through some exquisite creations by jewellers from Bahrain, Hong Kong - China, India, Italy, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Turkey, and the UAE.
A major attraction of the Show will be the collective participation through national pavilions from the countries of Hong Kong - China, India, Italy, Thailand, and Singapore.
The Hong Kong pavilion, which has been an integral part of the show for several years now, will once again be a major crowd puller. In fact, it will be Hong Kong's biggest jewellery pavilion in the region with participation from over 60 jewellers.
The Italian pavilion too is expected to be a major head turner. The pavilion will be considerably bigger in terms of occupied exhibition space compared to the previous editions.
The pavilions from India, Thailand, and Singapore, each with their own distinctive designs and creations, will also have an imposing presence at the Show.
Whereas Hong Kong is known for its affordable designer diamond jewellery, Italian jewellery is synonymous with high-end gold and diamond collections. Indian jewellery, on the other hand, is famous for its intricate designs. Thailand and Singapore are better known for precious stones and gems and medium range designer diamond jewellery respectively.
"The MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show has been experiencing phenomenal growth since it started a decade and a half back," said Mr. Saif Al Midfa, Director General, Expo Centre Sharjah.
"Continuing on that trend, the coming edition will be bigger, both in terms of number of exhibitors and occupied exhibition space. Three halls of Expo Centre Sharjah, measuring a total of 12,000 square metres, will be utilized to host 350 jewellers from across the world. A majority of the exhibitors had participated in the previous editions," he added.
Mr. Saif Al Midfa explained that the high exhibitor retention rate was largely due to the confidence that jewellers reposed on the event.
"It is probably the only show of its kind in the region that attracts such a large number of jewellery connoisseurs under one roof," said Mr. Saif Al Midfa.
"It is precisely due to this reason that some of the world's finest jewellers consider the event an ideal platform for launching their new collections in the Middle East every season," he added.
The last edition of the MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show, which was held from October 30 - November 3, 2006, attracted a total of 40,831 visitors, a majority of whom were from the region.
The MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show is an initiative of Expo Centre Sharjah. It is supported by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the World Gold Council (WGC).
