DMI wins 16 Promax/BDA Arabia Awards

Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), one of the Middle East's largest TV broadcasters and creative services group, were rewarded with 16 wins at the annual Promax/BDA Arabia Awards 2007.

DMI, which grabbed eight awards last year, doubled its wins this year with nine Gold Awards and seven Silver Awards in creative execution, promotion and programming categories.

Dubai One's promotion campaigns were a clear favourite among judges, walking away with five Gold awards for Best on Air Branding, Best Use of Music and Sound Design, Best Sting, Best Programme Promo and Best Movie Promo.

Dubai One also won three Silver awards for Best Use of Music and Sound Design, Best On-air Ident for Dubai One, and Best Television Promo.

Obeida Sidani, Head of Creative Services at DMI said: "We are extremely proud to have received this honour for the third year running. The success of DMI at Promax/BDA Arabia Awards clearly reflects that we are now, more than ever, an industry leader in creative and broadcast services.

Sama Dubai TV was also an industry favourite, winning three Gold awards for Best On-air Ident, Best Entertainment Programme Title Sequence and Best Original Logo Design. The channel won three Silvers for Best Animation, Best Entertainment Programme Title Sequence and Best Original Logo Design.

Dubai TV received one Silver award for Best Drama Promo while Dubai Sports Channel rounded off the evening with a Gold for Best Sports Promo.

Presented at the culmination of the Promax/BDA Arabia 2007 Conference on March 27 at the Grosvenor House in Dubai, the submissions were judged on overall creativity, production quality and achievement of stated or implied objectives.

The awards celebrate works of excellence in promotion, marketing and broadcast design that was aired, published or distributed in Arabia between 1 April 2006 and 1 January 2007.

DMI's Dubai One TV and Dubai Sports Channel will be facing some of broadcast's global giants including BBC and ITV following three nominations in the upcoming Promax/BDA Europe Awards taking place in Berlin next month.

Dubai Media Incorporated, which falls under the Dubai Government, is considered as one of the United Arab Emirates' largest media corporations. Dubai Media Incorporated has been conceived by H.H. Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Dubai, in 2003. Moreover, it has thus forth acted as an incubator, spawning all of the television stations currently operating under Dubai Television, including channels like Dubai TV, One TV, Dubai Sports Channel and Sama Dubai.
