The launch of the 18 million square feet site took place yesterday at a function held at Dubai Industrial City in the presence of representatives from major UAE-based research companies and testing laboratories, demonstrating a keen interest in the City's new offering.
Rashed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Industrial City, said the dedicated area will fulfill a major operational requirement of the factories that are currently being built across the 560 million square feet township.
He said: "Factories in the industrial sector have an ongoing requirement to conduct laboratory testing and research initiatives. This is especially more significant in those units operating in the base metal, minerals, food and beverage, and machinery and equipment zones of the Dubai Industrial City.
"This launch also reflects our focus on quality and innovation, while validating our service oriented approach to better serve and meet the production and operational demands of the industrial community within the City."
Al Ansari pointed out the dedicated area will see the setting up of laboratories and research units for consumer manufacturing, food and beverage products, environment and ecological testing, meteorology services, as well as engineering and minerals investigation such as soil, concrete and steel testing.
"The new area will also meet our long term quality goals and help industrial units implement the Dubai Quality Mark (DQM). This is because manufacturers in the City are requested to abide by our quality policies and testing is one of the areas that will ensure their production conforms with our quality requirements," he added.
Al Ansari said he expected demand for the area to increase as more and more testing and research companies continue to establish base in Dubai.
"A lot of industrial activity is taking place in Dubai as a whole and the construction industry in the country is expanding by leaps and bounds. New production units and more companies are setting up base in Dubai and the UAE in general, and we expect this growth to reflect positively on the demand from companies in this sector," he said.
Located in close proximity to the new Jebel Ali Airport and Jebel Ali Port, with easy accessibility to major highways such as Sheikh Zayed Road, Emirates Road and the Dubai Ring Road, Dubai Industrial City offers a dedicated industrial destination comprising six industrial clusters for food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment.
Complementary facilities for logistics, warehousing, labour cities, in addition to commercial, residential and entertainment zones, position Dubai Industrial City as a comprehensive one stop-shop destination, providing tenants with a critical competitive advantage in the areas of human resources, logistics and business.
