Proxim Wireless launches pioneering converged wireless technology in the Middle East

The MeshMAX range of products are the first in the world to enable the convergence of Wi-Fi Mesh, WIMAX and Wi-Fi access all in a single integrated device, and strong demand is expected in the region.

Wireless mesh networking could allow people living in remote areas and small businesses operating in the region to connect their networks together for affordable Internet connections, so the availability of a new product range that simplifies its deployment is likely to be extremely popular in the Middle East and Africa.

Proxim MeshMAX products are currently under evaluation by a number of the Middle East's leading service providers, with strong interest in the products' potential to integrate WiMAX and Wi-Fi mesh, thereby quickly and cost effectively bringing connectivity for both voice and video to remote regions.

Proxim Wireless is working with Online Distribution to help ensure that companies have access to these new solutions, by generating opportunities to raise awareness of the potential of wireless mesh networking in the Middle East through a series of client and partner meetings.

Though both technologies are distinct - each with unique characteristics - they often are deployed in tandem using WiMAX for backhaul and Wi-Fi mesh to provide access to the growing base of Wi-Fi enabled devices and multi-mode Wi-Fi phones. Until now, the only solution was to install two separate units, one WiMAX and one Wi-Fi mesh. With MeshMAX, these technologies are now integrated in a single compact outdoor enclosure.
