Charity golf tournament for Dhow victims

Club captain Peter Loubser led his team to victory in a special tournament at Riffa Golf Club held in memory of the Al Dana Dhow disaster with all proceeds being donated to the Al Dana Charity Fund.

Loubser's team, consisting of Adam Piggin and husband and wife pairing Yvonne and David Anthony achieved a score of 40 points in the 9-hole night golf tournament. In second place with a team score of 39 points was the team of Isa Al Borshaid, Ebrahim Esbai, Eamonn Philips and Mike Vine.

"We held this tournament to mark the first anniversary of the sinking of the Al Dana and to raise money for the families of all the victims," explained Riffa general manager Michael Braidwood. "The event raised over BD1300 for the Al Dana Charity Fund."

Hole sponsors for the Al Dana Memorial Cup were Alkomed, Prodon, Mercury, Prisma, Havelock, Atkins, Delmon Precast Concrete, Delmon Ready Mix Concrete, Modern Home, Kontra, the "Guys at Haj" and DTZ.
