SCCI and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry inks MOU

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between UAE and Pakistan.

The MOU, inked by Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, Chairman of the SCCI, and Dr. Hassan Sarosh, President of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was presented in Karachi, Pakistan, on behalf of the SCCI by its Director General Mr. Saeed Obaid Al Jarwan in the presence of Pakistan's Minister of Commerce, Mr. Humayun Akhter, on March 30, 2007.

Mr. Fasahat Ali Khan, Advisor to the Chairman and Board of Directors of Expo Centre Sharjah, was also present on the occasion.

The MOU provides for regular exchange of a variety of information including market information, trade publications, and existing laws and regulations, with a view to further trade cooperation between Sharjah and Rawalpindi. It also intends to assist official missions, commercial and economic delegations between the two cities with the aim to establish and strengthen business to business contacts.

The MOU calls for providing cooperation and assistance to each other's members. A major highlight of the MOU is the intent for cooperation between Expo Centre Sharjah and Rawalpindi Exhibitions. Both the organisations aim to cooperate with each other in hosting exhibitions, international fairs, specialized exhibitions, economic and technical fairs, information bureaus, symposium, seminars, and other similar events.
