Meeting with top level opinion leaders and captains of industry in order to gain their insights into the future development of Qatar, McFarlane's brief is to research and write about the macro-economic and political environment within the emirate.
Explains McFarlane: "This is an interesting time to be working in Qatar, when as the Gulf state with the most per capita wealth to spend on development, the emirate is determined to make itself a centre for higher education for both the Gulf and the wider Arab world.
"Qatar's enormous natural wealth combined with an increasingly skilled national population, strong economy and infrastructure developments mean that many forecast investment spending of $130bn over the next seven years. Through our research we will track this sustained development and offer insight and analysis to a broad base of business subscribers,"said McFarlane.
OBG's publication ' The Report: Emerging Qatar 2007 ' will provide comprehensive overviews and analysis of the country's political and macroeconomic environment , as well as trends in all the major economic sectors including banking capital markets insurance , I.T. and telecom, real estate and construction, tourism, energy and media.
