- PRESS RELEASE
LG Electronics has launched its first portable combo-drive into the UAE as the global and regional digital leader seeks to consolidate its market leading position in the country's optical storage segment.
"This extremely flexible optical storage drive adds a new dimension to LG's highly-prized reputation for being at the fore-front of optical storage technology," said Mr P.C. Choi, Managing Director, LG Electronics Gulf FZE.
"This drive is especially useful for those without built-in CD writers where the user needs the flexibility of a portable device. Its launch comes as a result of LG's commitment to meeting all customer needs and fulfilling all niche segments in the optical storage sector."
The new CD-RW features LG's proprietary 'Losslink' 2 Mb buffer under-run prevention technology and fail-free writing speed, optimised for each media.
LG's sleek, slim GCC-5240P package comes supplied with a PCIMA card, interface cable and AC adaptor together with authoring software for CD recording and DVD playback.
LG currently leads the optical storage sector in the Middle East and Africa with sales in the first half of this year growing a whopping 69% to deliver a turnover of US $22 million.
"The continuing launch of leading-edge products is a key element in our strategy to maintain this commanding position," said Choi.
