- PRESS RELEASE
One day seminar held in Dubai addressed the concerns and the necessity of processes and tools that ensure security in the business sector.
The seminar allowed decisions makers and executives from the UAE and around the region to exchange knowledge, opinions and best practice solutions in the field of Information Security. Key speakers included Mark Dunn, Director Enterprise Risk Services, Deloitte & Touche; Tarek Houbballah, Systems Engineer, Cisco Systems; Lou Scotto, General Manager, Emirates Bank International and Chris Bester, Senior Security Consultant, ComGuard. Attendees for the event included banks, IT, trade, government and educational authorities with the common interest in protecting their businesses as well as their future opportunities.
"With this seminar, Intertec Systems, in conjunction with our esteemed colleagues who have joined us here today, have brought the issue of Information Security once again to the forefront. For our attendees, this was a reminder that in today's fast moving world, being one step ahead is of the utmost importance and that tools are available to ensure protection to your systems" said Naresh Kothari, Managing Director, Intertec Systems, speaking on the day.
Specialist speaker Mark Dunn, Director Enterprise Risk Services, Deloitte & Touche spoke on the topic of Information Security, why it has become an issue in the past few years and what leading companies are doing to implement effective solutions. Mr. Dunn stated, "We know that no two threats look exactly alike and that new, increasingly sophisticated ones surface every day. That's why information protection solutions should go beyond passive security to recognize potential exposures and suspect behavior then prevent them from damaging valuable online assets."
A recent Computer Security Institute study conducted with the Federal Bureau of Investigation found that 90% of its recipients reported security breaches in a one-year period, with 74% suffering financial losses, for an average impact of just under $2,000,000 per respondent ($378 million in losses across 199 respondents). Today, information threats are increasing at an alarming rate, going beyond viruses to include new, sophisticated forms of blended online threats against IT infrastructures that require. Moreover, to reap the benefits of the Internet, businesses continue to open their networks to customers, business partners and their mobile work force significantly increasing both the vulnerability and value of their online assets.
With network security in mind, Intertec Systems created SIPS (SecureIS Professional Service), a specialist consultancy division to identify, assess, control and mitigate the various risks and threats that could potentially affect IT infrastructure critical to business processes. SIPS also provides an effective mechanism to provide security updates that are critical to infrastructure.
