The forum was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Ali Bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi, Minister of Labour along with Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment.

Dubai eGovernment was the honorary sponsor of the invitation-only forum which highlighted how technology can be used to enhance welfare and stability in society. Held under the motto 'towards e-Family,' the forum attracted a large number of national and international dignitaries and business leaders.

The two day event, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Rawdah Bint Maktoum Al Maktoum, was addressed by several prominent speakers who discussed topics such as the promotion of literacy and technology, improved communication between the community and government departments and the development of the eFamily concept. The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Etisalat, the Ministry of Labor, Ansam and My Fair Lady were the other sponsors of the Forum.

Speaking at the Forum, Salem Al Shair said, "As an organization whose primary orientation is in public service, Dubai eGovernment values its involvement in this event as an opportunity to improve the delivery and access to the government eServices. Dubai eGovernment believes that technology is an integral part of the future of our society. This being the case, technology therefore is an empowering tool for any member of this society. Thus, enabling families to collectively learn how to take full advantage of this empowering tool will lead to a highly efficient and participative community."

"Dubai eGovernment has continuously worked to diversify its eServices and cater to the various requirements of the public it is serving. It is our ultimate vision to connect as many families and communities with the eService platforms we have established," he added.

In addition to participating in the forum, Dubai eGovernment organised simultaneous workshops for several government and semi-government departments, including Dubai Municipality, Dubai National School, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Roads and Traffic Authority, directed at educating the public on using eServices to achieve higher penetration and uptake. Dubai eGovernment's efforts at increasing the distribution of the eGovernance initiative are in line with HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's goals of achieving a minimum of 50 per cent adoption of eServices.

The Forum also aimed at connecting the community with the service technology provided by ministries, departments, companies and establishments, by showcasing some of Dubai's most successful technological, electronic and technical achievements. Several workshops and activities were held during the event, to showcase ways that technology can improve and facilitate societal interaction.
