The industry pavilion, organised by the show's Turkish agent Askan Exhibitions, will feature around eight exhibitors and take up over 100 square metres.

"Turkey is quite strong in the international packaging sector having gained substantial experience in servicing the packaging requirements of its own extensive agricultural sector," said Ms Zeynep Asli Talu of Askan Exhibitions.

"With the Turkish Lire being highly competitive the country's packaging leaders are now looking to open up markets beyond their national borders."

Turkey will be one of two industry pavilions at the show - the other will represent the Taiwanese packaging industry.

"Turkey is a welcome addition to the growing PackTech International exhibitor portfolio. Its pavilion is a clear demonstration of how the global industry is now specifically targeting the Middle East where demand is being fuelled by a burgeoning industrial base," said Sharla Hancock, Project Manager, Fairs and Exhibitions (F&E), which organises PackTech International.

To date, exhibitors from the Middle East, Indian Sub-continent, Europe and Russia have committed to PackTech International, which will be held at the DIEC from January 12-15. For the first time, the show will also include an exhibitor from Armenia.

A biennial event, PackTech International is the Middle East's only B2B trade show for the packaging industry. The exhibition has the backing of the UK-headquartered Confederation of Organisers of Packaging Exhibitions (COPE).

Another F&E event - PrinTech/PubliTech - the international show for the Middle East's printing and publishing industries, will be staged alongside PackTech International.
