EMP joins FEDMA

Emirates Marketing & Promotions (EMP) a subsidiary of Emirates Post which provides direct marketing, call centre and promotional services is the first UAE federal government company to join The Federation of European Direct & Interactive Marketing (FEDMA) as a member.

FEDMA was created in 1997 as a result of the merger between EDMA (est. 1976) and FEDIM (est. 1992). It is the single voice of the European direct marketing industry. Its national members are direct marketing associations (DMAs) representing users, service providers and media/carriers of direct marketing. Today, it has more than 200 direct company members.
EMP is the largest and best direct marketing company which provides a one-stop-shop for all direct marketing needs for government organizations, multinational companies and leading national organizations in the UAE and the region.

EMP offers a state-of-the-art call centre which provides all inbound and outbound call handling services to corporations, an integrated direct mail marketing service platform from creating concepts to providing list rentals and arranging for all direct marketing fulfillment for direct mail or interactive communications. EMP manages UAE's most successful retail consumer promotion, 'The Post Card Millionaire' and has plans to expand this regionally.

"Today, direct marketing strategies via mail, telephone, Internet and direct response are an essential tool for companies to approach, inform and retain customers, as well as providing customer relationship services", said Ahmad Tahlak, CEO, EMP International while announcing EMP's membership to FEDMA.

The development of sophisticated databases, telemarketing and e-marketing has made direct marketing increasingly popular as a marketing strategy and has encouraged strong investment. The direct marketing sector represents an annual expenditure of over 100 billion euro and employs over 2 million people directly, and many more indirectly, within the EU. Locally with the UAE, the direct marketing and call centre businesses are one of the fastest growing sectors coping with the dynamic growth of the services sector business and is poised to add a significant contribution to the UAE's GDP.

Through its many activities, FEDMA is dedicated to building the business of cross-border direct marketing, both through its vast network of contacts and businesses within and beyond Europe and by representation within the institutions of the European Union.

EMP through it's FEDMA membership will have access to several Government Affairs Committees like The Legal Affairs Committee - which sets the strategy for FEDMA's lobbying activities on EU issues such as co-regulation, data protection, consumer policy, commercial communications, distance selling, e-commerce, contractual law, jurisdiction, TV Without Frontiers, and self-regulatory codes etc.

The Postal Affairs Committee which covers all aspects of postal services, the Postal Directives, quality of service, REIMS (terminal dues), relations with the UPU, standardization, VAT on post, environmental taxes and recycling.

The Environment Committee which was set up to help promote the environmentally friendly nature of direct mail and give national DMAs advice on how to do the same. The Ethics Committee, established to oversee FEDMA's work on Codes of Practice and Preference Services (Robinson Lists) etc.
