ICT transformation brings challenges and opportunities to industry players, says Huawei Technologies
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, April 11 - 2007 at 16:26
- PRESS RELEASE
The ICT industry is currently witnessing huge transformation.
Many leading operators are realizing the importance of FMC, according to Gartner, 8 out of the top 13 worldwide operators, delivering services to 54% of the global markets, are integrated operators. Many driving factors are behind the increasing tendency towards FMC. While fixed operators are expanding in the mobile domain to fight against fixed mobile substitution, mobile operators are also targeting the fixed services to provide the best cost effective coverage and create new revenue generators and integrated operators are aiming to cut down their OPEX based on converged network architecture.
According to Huawei, this transformation brings many challenges to industry players; however it simultaneously offers huge business opportunities. Operators need to adapt their network, strategy and services in order to make the best out of the new convergence era.
"With the development of IT&IP, the whole industry value chain is shifting and operators will face major challenges especially favoring service providers, content providers and terminal suppliers in this value chain. It is becoming mandatory for operators to develop a new business model that can capitalize on the current services while growing new wave of services and applications to regain their role in the value chain", said Tian Feng, President, Middle East & North Africa, Huawei Technologies.
Huawei believes that an ALL IP FMC solution based on the maturing IMS technology will empower the operators' capability to build their new business model, with reduced CAPEX and OPEX. Huawei model is built to achieve 4 main targets: broadband access, network convergence, ubiquity and intelligence.
"This model will boost operator's profitability, where integrated operators will experience large customer base and bigger market share. It will also empower the reduction of total cost ownership (TCO), which appears as a crucial element to create a healthy ecosystem,
this is to be added to enhancing customer base and satisfaction, through cross selling opportunities and offering facilities like one number and one bill".
As a leading provider of telecommunications solutions, Huawei is uniquely structuring its FMC strategy to enable users to enjoy a seamless consistent experience anytime, anywhere, and via any terminal.
Huawei FMC strategy has already been put in operation. Targeting different operators' different business environments, it is designed to reduce customers' OPEX, CAPEX and user churn while increase service revenue. So far, Huawei has established partnership with several international leading FMC operators.
