With this new expanded role, Amer will continue to drive Motorola to capitalize on the intensive growth opportunities in the region's telecommunications sector.

'Motorola Networks & Enterprise has a long and proven history of working with the leading telecoms operators in the region. With our evolving portfolio of services and solutions, I look forward to leading the team in supporting our customers' strategies for growth in this highly competitive market,'

said Amer.

The regional realignment will strengthen Motorola's Networks & Enterprise business across the expanded region. Amer will be focused on driving sales and business strategies effectively as well as increasing awareness around new opportunities to increase telephony penetration and bring the latest technologies such as WiMAX to the region. He will continue to be based at Motorola's MEA regional headquarters in Dubai.

Previously, as senior director of sales for Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan, Amer led Motorola's Networks business growth across the region and was instrumental to embrace market challenges and manage relationships with key Motorola customers. He presided over securing the first nationwide commercial contract of Motorola's WiMAX solution globally, with Wateen Telecom in Pakistan and was instrumental to achieve key GSM wins with both Motorola's new and long-standing customers in the region.

Prior to this, Amer held a number of leadership roles within Motorola since joining the company in 1989, including director of sales for North Africa and General Manager for Motorola Morocco. Amer also served as a research engineer for Motorola in the USA in the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Organization, and holds a patent in technology development.
