This year, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry partners with UNICEF and the UAE Red Crescent to help finance major projects for children in need and mother-child centers. As well as highlighting charitable activities around the world, this 41-day event is promoting Dubai as a commercial and tourist destination.
Furry Friendly Costume Characters have already been scheduled to appear in different malls. Magicians, balloon benders, jugglers, face painters and more will be happy to show off their costumes and talents among the mall visitors and patrons.
'We are proud to associate 'Dubai the City that Cares 2002' with educational, cultural, social, religious, charitable and athletic programmes,' said Thani Juma Berregad, Chief Co-ordinator, Dubai the City that Cares. 'These will bring together the values of sharing and contributing that are at the core of the holy month of Ramadan.'
There will also be a daily draw every night at 9 pm around shopping malls across Dubai, with 20% of the winnings donated to charity.
'Dubai: the City that Cares 2002' started on 2nd November and will run until 12th December 2002. It is sponsored by American Express, Dubai Islamic Bank, Jumeira Beach Residence, Gold & Jewelry Group, Dubai Shopping Malls Group, and Al Zarouni Group.

Dubai has already begun welcoming visitors from all over the UAE and the Arab World to participate in the popular Ramadan campaign, Dubai the City that Cares 2002.
