FIRST is the premier international organization and recognized global leader in computer security incident management and response. Acceptance into the FIRST community provides affirmation that the member adheres to high standards and best practices in information security, and improves the collective capabilities of the organization by sharing security tools, techniques, and specialized knowledge amongst its members.

To mark their acceptance into this esteemed community, Q-CERT is hosting an international technical colloquium in Doha, from April 12th - 16th, at the Doha Ritz-Carlton Hotel, and is inviting all interested Qatari organizations to send representatives.

On April 12th, Q-CERT will conduct a special session on "Managing Organizational Information Security". The session will present the Qatari national incident reporting and response system; describe how to establish organizational incident response teams; provide an overview of training option; and conclude with a session on how an organization can review and improve its information security posture. The session will begin at 8:30 am, and conclude by 1:00 pm.

A FIRST Technical Colloquium is designed by security professionals, for security practitioners, with a very technical character. This will also be true of the Doha TC, in that there are several hands-on workshops, for members only, on Friday 13th April.

The rest of the colloquium, from Saturday through Monday, will consist of open sessions on topics ranging from identity theft and phishing to the latest developments in cyber forensics.
"We are pleased to extend this opportunity to meet and work with some of the best topical experts in the world," said to Dr. Rashid Al-Ali, Q-CERT Director. "We are proud to be a part of the international FIRST community, and look forward to hosting this unique event."
