The awards programme is organised by Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders and recognised as the sole Arab initiative that celebrates distinguished entrepreneurial activities in the UAE and across the Arab world.
During the ceremony at the Dubai World Trade Centre, six special awards will be offered among other accolades in 19 different categories. The awards will name the Best Male and Female Entrepreneurs in the Arab World for 2006.
Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders, said: "The awards programme has evolved into a well-recognised event on the national business calendar. Being the sole forum dedicated to celebrating entrepreneurial excellence, the awards have gathered substantial momentum as a unique platform that promotes the younger generation to launch and own private businesses."
"The awards highlight the keenness of the country's leaders to increase the involvement of UAE nationals in the local business arena," he added.
The organisers said that the selection process follows very strict criteria. Managed by a jury of distinguished business figures, selection is based on highly professional and internationally recognised standards to ensure maximum transparency and objectivity.
Terms and conditions of the awards limit participation to projects of less than 50 employees and maximum annual income of AED3 million. Participating projects from the UAE should be 100 per cent owned and operated by UAE nationals. All projects should be operational for more than one year.
The awards were launched in 2004 to promote entrepreneurship among UAE nationals and have since expanded to include leading Arab entrepreneurs. The programme also celebrates individuals and organizations that participate in promoting entrepreneurial initiatives in the UAE.
