Bank Asya syndicated USD 175 M Murabaha financing facility

Turkey's Asya Katilim Bankasi A.ª. ('Bank Asya') announced in Istanbul the successful close and signing of their USD175 million syndicated Murabaha Financing Facility.
The Facility has been structured as a dual one and two-year tranche facility. Proceeds of the Facility will be used by Bank Asya for its general financing activities.
The syndication achieved significant oversubscription and Bank Asya elected to increase the facility to US$175 million. Strong support came from banks in the region and international banks from Europe, with a total of 40 banks including the Mandated Lead Arrangers participating in the financing. A list of participating banks is attached.
Mr. Unal Kabaca, CEO & President of Bank Asya thanked the Mandated Lead Arrangers and all the banks participating in the deal for their strong support. Speaking on behalf of the Mandated Lead Arrangers and the participating banks, Mr. Hammad Hassan, Executive Director, ABC Islamic Bank congratulated Bank Asya on the tremendous success of its syndication.

Following its IPO in May 2006, shareholders' equity at the end of 2006 stood at YTL632.5 million, recording an increase of 115% over year end 2005, whilst net income at YTL146 million grew by 55% over the comparable fourth quarter in 2005.
Bank Asya is rated B by Fitch Rating with a stable outlook.
