Acer still number one in Saudi market for notebook sales

Acer Computer posted 50 per cent year-on-year growth in 2006 for sales in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, allowing the IT vendor to maintain its historical strong presence at this year's Saudi GITEX.
Notebooks remain the vendor's top product, with 138,729 units sold in the Kingdom, a year-on-year growth of 42.1% from 2005. "Notebooks are our best selling products in the Kingdom, and products like the Ferrari 1000 further demonstrate our determination to provide quality products to end users," said Emanuele Accolla, Vice President, EMEA and Director for the Middle East and Turkey (META) region
At GITEX, Acer will have dedicated stands focusing on three key areas: convergence, mobility and enterprise. Its portfolio of notebooks and subsequent sales volume - firmly establish the vendor as the number one supplier of notebooks.
The exhibition will also see the global launch of the Aspire L310, a complete multimedia package for the home. "The Aspire L310 is the perfect tool for in-house convergence, capable of integrating and managing various other products with ease. The L310 will give customers an all-in-one multimedia solution," said Krishna Murthy, General Manager, Acer Computer Middle East.
In addition, Acer has recently launched the E310 - A handheld GPS scheduled for display at GITEX. From innovative individual products to a complete product line satisfying the complete IT needs of the Kingdom, Acer's product profile at the exhibition is a reflection of the importance it places on the Saudi market. Acer will also focus keenly on its commercial product lines. On display at the exhibition will be Acer's best-in-class servers. The IT vendor also has a dedicated production plant in the Kingdom, which is capable of producing 120,000 PCs a year.
