The Centre for Management and Professional Development (CMPD), the community outreach arm of the University of Dubai (UD), signed a contract with the Public Prosecution, Dubai, to design and deliver Business English courses for specific purposes that have been customized to meet the needs and requirements of its employees.

Dr. Hefni, UD President said: "I am glad that the University of Dubai and Public Prosecution have taken this first step together in signing the contract. I see many other opportunities still waiting to be explored, which will greatly benefit all concerned - the university, its faculty and students and the Public Prosecution".

Usha Kaul Saraf, Manager CMPD said, " The courses have been designed after meetings and mutual consultation with the human resources department and the participants so that the course will promote key skills in communication in English, particularly speaking, reading, listening and writing skills, with extra emphasis on vocabulary for customer service areas in Public Prosecution".

Senior Advocate General Yusuf Hassan Al Mutawa, said "The agreement with the University of Dubai is in line with the directions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to develop employee skills, besides enhancing communication between public prosecution employees and the customers. The contract will also achieve the Public Prosecution's strategic goals in increasing customer satisfaction levels by offering the best services to them. Such joint collaborations will only add to the developments that the emirate is witnessing".

Al Mutawa also pointed out that with the continuous increase in the communities that do not speak the Arabic language (more than 70 per cent) it had become necessary that the level of the English language among the employees is upgraded to better serve the community. Such courses i.e. English for specific purposes designed by CMPD-UD will address the requirement well.
