  • PRESS RELEASE

Regional executives from Acer, Intel, and Microsoft corporations yesterday met H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Higher Education (MOHE), at his Abu Dhabi office to discuss ways in which the three information technology vendors could cooperate with the UAE's MOHE to provide the country's students with Tablet PC technology necessary to ensure the continued advancement of their progressive education in the Emirates.

"Education is a key focus area for Acer, as a majority of our products are designed with advanced technology and ease-of-use in mind. Now, Acer's Tablet PC technology takes these two elements to the limit, and students in the UAE will be some of the first in the world to benefit from its futuristic features," said Emanuele Accolla, Managing Director, Acer Computer, MEA

Dr Tayeb Kamali, HCT Vice Chancellor said, 'This international joint project with Acer will greatly benefit the students of the HCT and emphasizes the HCT's commitment to work closely with the corporate world wide in order to provide our students with the best possible international most up to date technology available as we are training the senior international managers of the future.'

Dr. Kamali added that links with the private and industrial sector played an important part in HCT students' vocational training. And the HCT is delighted that Acer is involving itself in this important activity.

"Intel is delighted to support this innovative product that embodies our latest mobile Pentium III processors. Laptop sales from the high-street retail outlets currently run at 3 times the sales of desktop computers and this gives a good indication of the popularity of mobility. This addition to the sphere of mobility adds a further dimension to its already well-established flexibility" Gilbert Lacroix, General Manager, Intel Middle East and North Africa
