Effat College to hold Science and Engineering Fair

Effat College's Science and Engineering Fair will take place on campus on May 2, 2007.
The theme of the fair is "Shaping the Future." Effat College invites high school students in both public and private schools in the local community to participate in this event.
Several interesting activities will occur during this event. The first is a Project Competition. Participants will present their projects for assessment by an evaluation committee. Students that produce the best six projects will get exciting prizes such as a round trip ticket to any destination in Europe, laptops, and mobile phones.
Another highlight of this day is a Quiz Contest that will examine students' knowledge of basic scientific concepts. The first three winners will receive valuable prizes like mobile phones and portable DVD players.
Dr.Aziza Ibrahim, the Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department at Effat College emphasized the importance of the Science and Engineering Fair.She explained, "We aim to encourage young females in the local society to enter into scientific and engineering domains because currently a majority of the female population specializes in art majors and we wish to shift this trend."
Two prominent institutions are sponsoring Effat College's first Science and Engineering Fair. Microsoft is a Gold sponsor and LG Electronics is a Silver Sponsor.
