- PRESS RELEASE
The RTA is finalizing its strategic plan of transforming into an E- Government format, through identifying customer services and working out the mechanism for transferring them into the E- Government.
"This project comes in implementation of Dubai E-Government Initiative, put forward by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which calls for facilitating the procedures for the public and visitors (individuals or private companies) in the public entities and contributing to enhancing the leading role of Dubai in the knowledge economy. The project aims at providing 90% of Dubai government services electronically through Dubai E-Gate, which aims at creating a paperless and queues-less government. A government based on transparency and achievement, not barred by time & place, and capable of working round the clock throughout the days of the week, so as to form a pillar for the principle of governance that Dubai is seeking to turn into a reality" Al Tayer confirmed.
Al Tayer and Board Members of RTA were briefed by Mr. Abdulla Al Madani, CEO of the Corporate Support Services and Head of the E-Government Project Strategy in the RTA together with Mr. Ahmed Bahrozian, Director of IT Dep't, on the components of the project which started in last October. The project includes identifying the vision and strategy of RTA's E-Government, reviewing & approving an implementation plan to launch RTA's services online in accordance with the standards of the E-Government of Dubai, reviewing & approving the website of the RTA and affiliated Agencies in accordance with the best international practices, assessing the adaptability of RTA's technological infrastructure to the implementation of the E-Government, specifying RTA's services and working out a plan to transform them into electronic format (including customer polls), laying out the policies related to the governance of the E-Government and preparing the technological standards of the E-Government required for compilation of the final plan of the E-Government project.
"The plan is based on redesigning the website of the RTA; being the Main Gate of the electronic interaction with RTA's customers. It seeks to provide all RTA's services online and through the various electronic instruments such as mobile phone and electronic kiosks (touch screen) which enable customers to process their requests through these electronic channels, without having to visit the premises of RTA and affiliated agencies. A step aiming at simplifying the procedures, saving time & effort and rendering outstanding customer services" Al Madani stated.
H.E. the Chairman and CEO of RTA reviewed five innovative website designs. They include a design focusing on traffic safety oriented towards educating all sectors of the community on safety elements and secure driving. Another design sheds light on the existing and future projects undertaken by RTA covering all Agencies. This portal gives a brief account of each project and highlights its components and objectives. An other design spotlights virtual transportation by various modes in the Emirate such as Dubai Metro, marine transport (abra, water bus & water taxi) and public buses which include double-decker buses, articulated buses & ordinary buses in addition to taxis. A further design allows navigators to make contributions & come up with initiatives related to the projects of the RTA.
