The Zabeel Hall at the venue will house the DSF/DSS Office that will be participating in ATM 2007 under the auspices of the Dubai Trade and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

The step comes in line with the dynamic marketing strategy adopted by the DSF/DSS Office to promote Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises not only on a regional level but to reach out to a wider global audience. The initiative is also aimed at presenting DSS as an integrated shopping, winning, and family entertainment experience in addition to positioning Dubai as a leading global tourist and entertainment destination.

Saeed Al Nabouda, Chief Executive Officer of DSS and DSF said,

"Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises have both proved to be a huge success regionally and globally. The achievements and the records that we have registered in terms of visitors and expenditures inspire us to not only maintain the level of success but to enhance it in the future. Our participation in geographically diversified global travel and tourism exhibitions and fairs helps us to effectively promote DSF and DSS and highlight both these events on an international scale. We are confident that our participation in ATM will provide us with the platform to further achieve our vision."

Earlier this year, the DSS Office participated in two renowned international tourism fairs - the International Tourism Exchange (ITB-2007) in Berlin, Germany, and the Moscow International Travel and Tourism (MITT 2007) exhibition.

The DSF/DSS Office recently announced that DSS would sponsor the media centre at ATM 2007 for the second successive year. Communication facilities provided in the media centre allow journalists to send stories internationally, ensuring daily coverage for the event across the world. The ATM media centre provides a unique opportunity for any brand to reach out to global audiences ensuring unrivalled exposure.

DSS celebrates its tenth anniversary this year and is gearing up to unveil a host of innovative and exciting family entertainment events for visitors, tourists, and residents. Beginning on June 21, the summer event will run till August 31, offering ten weeks of Surprises and activities for every visitor and every family.

Launched in 1998, Dubai Summer Surprises was conceived as the foremost family entertainment event during the summer season for the whole of GCC. Targeted at visitors from outside the UAE and within the country, DSS has been a major entertainment and shopping attraction since its inception and witnessed 1,875,000 visitors in the year 2006 compared to 600,000 in 1998. The event has succeeded in positioning Dubai as the leading summer destination in the region.

Organised by government departments with the cooperation of the public sector, the ten-week event is a celebration of different surprises that offer visitors and shoppers the perfect family entertainment opportunity and the ideal combination of shopping and adventure. Over the years DSS has hosted numerous surprises such as Food, Water, Global, Ice, Flower, Sports, Heritage, Arts, Techno, Cartoons, Colour, Sweets, Knowledge, and Back-2-School. The summer event lays special emphasis on children, who are provided all the opportunities to hone their skills while enjoying a fun-packed ten weeks of activities. DSS also has its own mascot, Modhesh, the ever smiling brand ambassador who embodies everything that the event stands for - fun, excitement, brightness and unlimited joy for children.

Dubai Summer Surprises as a venture has contributed significantly to the economy of Dubai and continues to do so by enhancing different economic sectors during a lean period of economic activity in summer. An increase in visitor expenditure from AED 850 million in 1998 to AED 2.57 billion in 2006 is a clear indication of the event's ability to drive economic growth during summer. Into its tenth year, Dubai Summer Surprises has come a long way by building on the successes of the previous editions and aims to create a benchmark for future years to provide the three most important characteristics of the event - shopping, winning, and entertainment.
