Dubai Internet City (DIC), Member of TECOM Investments and one of the largest ICT clusters in the world, will showcase its various offerings at Middle East Telecoms and Business Communications Exhibition and Conference (MECOM 2007), held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from the 22nd till 25th of April, 2007.
"Throughout the Middle East, the telecom sector is experiencing growth as governments pour large investments into expanding and improving infrastructure. More importantly, the improvement of telecom service delivery results in providing end users and businesses with advanced services meeting their individual and business requirements" said Jamal Abdulsalam, Executive Director of DIC.
"In addition to being a comprehensive trade show, MECOM is promoting an accessible, advanced, highly detailed, and entirely transparent dialogue regarding the current and anticipated future developments of established and emergent communications platforms," Abdulsalam added.
According to the Arab Advisors Group, UAE leads the Arab world in international connectivity, with the region's highest Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) penetration at 27 per cent. The UAE is also one of the Arab world's highest adopters of telecommunication services.
MECOM features nearly 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest in telecom equipment and services. Among the participants are TRA, Etisalat, du, Thuraya, Motorola, Ericsson, ZTE, Cisco, HP, British Telecom, Alcatel, Lucent, Nokia, Siemens Networks, ICT Fund and many others who have more to say about the Telecom sector than anticipated.
Today DIC is nearing its 1,000-mark for establishments within its cluster, which includes international and major ICT players such as LexMark, Intel, and General Electric (GE), Microsoft, Cisco Systems, IBM, HP, Dell, Siemens and Sun Microsystems, it is regarded as one of the largest managed free trade zone clusters of ICT companies in the world. The number of business partners at DIC has grown at an average annual rate of 53 per cent since its launch in year 2000.
