Umniah and Save the Children team up to support young people in Jordan

The conference was held at the Meridian Hotel on April 24th and was attended by Mr. Joseph Hanania, CEO of Umniah and Mr. Dennis Walto, Save the Children's Country Director for Jordan and Lebanon as well as wide spectrum of local communities, journalists and NGOs.

"NAJAH" is a pilot program developed by Save the Children through the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Jordan and targets Jordanian youth aged between 18-24 in an effort to better link young people to their community and the economy. The NAJAH program supports the national youth strategy envisioned by their majesties, King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah to fight unemployment, poverty and illiteracy among Jordanian youth and children.

Believing in the importance of private sector's role in developing society and its activities, and the importance of contributing to the effective growth of Jordan, Umniah has developed through the years many local and regional partnerships within its strategy aiming to establishing relationships with all society institutions.

Through this new and dynamic partnership, targeted NAJAH activities will be implemented in partnership with Umniah, the latest mobile operator and one of the pilot companies in Jordan. Umniah, through its partnership with Save the Children to sponsor NAJAH, takes on a vital corporate social responsibility role in supporting efforts aiming at helping young people reduce unemployment.

NAJAH will be divided into 6 journeys, where the youth will focus on their communication skill and teamwork. One of the highlights of this new partnership will be the regular promotion of "KESAS NAJAH" or "SUCCESS STORIES" - whereby young role models in the workforce will be regularly recognized. Umniah' s partnership contributes to achieving NAJAH's objectives, namely bringing the world of youth and work together and connecting young people to their community and the economy.
