Reinforcing its commitment to Africa, AMD recently appointed Gautam Srivastava as the VP, Sales and Marketing and Managing Director to oversee the company's operations and strengthen its distribution channels in Africa. Srivastava, whose portfolio also includes Middle East and Pakistan, is responsible for leading AMD's 50x15 initiative in these regions. The primary objective of this initiative is to empower 50% of the world's population with Internet access by 2015.

AMD's approach to technology development allows us to deliver affordable computing for emerging markets. Low cost computing has the ability to allow emerging markets to leap-frog generations of legacy infrastructure and grow high margin business sectors,"
said Gautam Srivastava, VP, Sales and Marketing and Managing Director, Middle East, Africa (MEA) and Pakistan.
Rick Bergman, Sr. VP, Graphics Products Group, John Byrne, VP, WW GPU and Chipset Sales, and Giuseppe Amato, Director, Technical Marketing Europe are some of the key AMD speakers addressing the conference.
The event and briefing is being held over a two-day period from April 22nd to 25th, 2007, and journalists from 30 countries are in attendance.
