DED to accept credit card payments

The Department of Economic Development (DED) has signed a strategic agreement with Network International, the region's leading EMV-certified merchant acquirer, to start accepting credit card payments in compliance with the emirate's eGovernment policies.

Business houses, investors and all others who interact with the DED for licence issues, company registration, trademark registration, commercial permits and other services can look forward to easier payments as DED will now start accepting debit and credit cards of all major providers including Visa International and MasterCard International.

"The Department of Economic Development has always been on the lookout for ways to better facilitate the business community in Dubai. DED has a history of only accepting cash transactions, and this new partnership will make it more convenient for business people to conduct everyday transactions with the department,"


said Mr. Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development at DED.

The DED works towards building stronger and enduring partnerships with the private sector to offer the best services for its customers and thereby enable faster economic growth of the country," added Mr. Al Kassim.
