Samsung appoints Axiom Telecom as Saudi Arabia distribution partner

Samsung has appointed Axiom Telecom, one of the region's largest mobile phone retailers, as the key distribution partner for mobile phones in Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was signed recently between Dongeon Lim, Samsung's General Manager, MEA - Mobiles and Faisal Al-Bannai, CEO of Axiom. In celebration of this union, Axiom held an event at Sunset Beach, in Al-Khobar.

Under the terms of the agreement, Axiom Telecom will distribute Samsung's wide range of mobile handsets and accessories across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Dongeon Lim said that the strategic alliance between the two companies would herald the start of a new era in the mobile handset industry in the Kingdom. "While Samsung is a leader in communications technology and design, Axiom Telecom has strong local and regional experience with extensive market penetration. I believe that through our combined efforts, we can offer the best products and services to the widest range of consumers across the Kingdom."

Axiom Telecom is the largest retailer and distributor of mobile and wireless solutions in the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia alone, Axiom Telecom has more than 170 outlets and more than 400 outlets across the GCC and Egypt.

Axiom has direct partnerships with the world's leading mobile brands. In addition to mobile retail and distribution, Axiom Telecom is a partner of telecoms service provider Mobily in Saudi Arabia, as well as regional satellite service provider Thuraya. It has the region's largest service centre infrastructure and has won numerous customer service awards.

Faisal Al-Bannai of Axiom Telecom, said: "Samsung is a growing player in the GSM sector in the Middle East, and we are glad to be partnering with the company at this crucial time. Their product line is impressive and so is their technology. I am sure that our partnership will set new benchmarking standards within the mobile phone industry.

"Samsung had a market share of about 17% in the MEA region in 2006," Mr. Lim said. "We are currently aiming for an ambitious sales growth of over 45% in 2007."
