Through this campaign Nissan Middle East distributed around 20,000 copies of its comic book and animated film, which reminds kids about the importance of following road safety rules and teaches habits that help avoid accidents.

"With the growing number of accidents across all cities in the region, we wanted to create an initiative that would educate and incorporate road safety rules and habits in young children, as they are our current passengers and future drivers and pedestrians," said Adel Faidi from the corporate communications department at Nissan Middle East. "Aligning with the regional concern with Safety, Nissan Middle East is pleased to play a role in spreading awareness through teaching youngsters in a light and interesting manner safety tips they would happily apply", he added.

The "Be Safe with Nissan" book is written in both English and Arabic using easy language and illustrative, colorful pictures that will help school children understand the message. For instance the book illustrates how to "Follow 5 rules to get to the other side safely" with pictures showing 5 simple steps to cross the road.

The book also has a section for parents, with tips from how to make your car more safe for kids to how to ensure your child has the least impact in case of an accident. Schools in the region distributed the book among their students and appreciated this initiative and safety concern by a leading automotive manufacturer who has a long heritage in the Middle East.

"Not only do we ensure the utmost safety features in Nissan cars, we also want our passengers, drivers and pedestrians to act responsibly and safely," concluded Faidi. Nissan is working towards a goal of reducing the number of serious and fatal car injuries. Based on analysis of real-world accidents, Nissan has been working progressively to design and engineer safer vehicles. As of 2003, Nissan had reduced the number of fatal and serious injuries by 22% compared with 1995, indicating that steady progress is being made towards its target.
