Diebold implements its first bulk cash acceptance solution in the ME
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, November 12 - 2002 at 16:01
- PRESS RELEASE
Diebold, Incorporated, a global leader in integrated self-service technology, announced today it has successfully implemented the first bulk-cash acceptance terminal for The Saudi British Bank (SABB) in Saudi Arabia.
"The successful implementation of this bulk-cash acceptance terminal, which was developed by Diebold Middle East professional services gives SABB the opportunity to augment its customer's convenience," said Hassan Hares, business development manager, Diebold Middle East.
The terminal is capable of scanning loose bundles of up to thirty bank notes at a time. Customers can place the bulk notes in the unit's input hopper, loading them short edge first in any orientation. It processes the notes and accumulates the value of all valid bills as they are accepted. The customer can cancel the process at any time and have all the notes returned.
Commenting on the successful implementation, Tariq Abdat, vice president at Alhamrani Universal Company said: "AUC's strong commitment to provide world-class support for Diebold in Saudi Arabia is a real success story, and we are very proud of this business relation."
As notes are recognized, they are transferred to an escrow area. Incorrect currency or denominations and unrecognizable notes are immediately returned to the customer. Once all the notes have been processed and the customer has confirmed the transaction, the accepted notes are transferred from the escrow area into a bulk cassette, and the customer receives immediate credit for deposited cash.
Explaining SABB's strategy behind using bulk cash acceptance solutions, Sulaiman Al Hamdan, deputy managing director Financial Services at SABB said, "Our strategy is to fully automate the branch environment in order to significantly improve retail delivery efficiency. Diebold's solutions allow us to move customers from staffed lines to a self-service environment where they can receive immediate credit for deposited cash."
