This is Malaysia's 4th year of participation in the event.
Apart from generating interest in Malaysia as wonderful travel destination for all types of visitors, this participation aims to promote the events of Visit Malaysia 2007, and understand the importance of Oman Travel Market as potential source of tourists.
"As far as this region is concern, Malaysia registered 186,821 visitors from West Asia during 2006, a 22.2 per cent increase compared to the same period the pervious year. Tourist arrivals from Oman were recorded at 11,905, an increase of almost 29 per cent from 2005," said Mr Syed Muhadzir Jamallulil, Director, Tourism Malaysia Gulf & Iran.
"Malaysia is one of the top preferred leisure destinations in Oman holiday market. Truly Asia experience with warm Malaysian hospitality enhanced with different events and festivals celebrating our 50th independence anniversary, makes Malaysia must visit destination in 2007," he added.
Malaysia boasts an exciting year-round calendar of world class and unique local events, ensuring visitors have endless opportunities to enjoy nature-based adventures, enriching cultural experiences or fabulous shopping sprees.
This forthcoming Golden Jubilee celebration marks a significant milestone in the history of the Malaysian nation. Visitors will join the enthusiastic crowd at the Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur on the eve of Merdeka Day for the countdown to the momentous event.
Another highlight of the year will be the Citrawarna or Colours and Flavours of Malaysia parade, an annual event showcasing the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the country. The event will be held on its grandest scale yet. Malaysia is inviting all visitors to share in the joy and excitement of this momentous occasion. It will by a unique multicultural populace celebrating 50 years of nationhood in harmony and peaceful co-existence. It will be truly fascinating.
