Among other accolades, Singapore was today named as the "Most popular emerging destination," following a special survey of Emarati travellers conducted by Asfaar travel magazine.

Industry recognition is supported by ongoing growth in the number of travellers from the region in 2007. Visitors to the city-state numbered 835,000 in March 2007, 1.9 percent more than the same month a year ago and a record high, according to the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

Tourist numbers reached a record 9.7 million last year and Singapore is aiming to set another record in 2007 as part of its drive to increase its share of the travel market.

As part of the campaign to reach out to the region, the largest-ever delegation of Singapore travel and hospitality companies are exhibiting at this year's Arabian Travel Market, running at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) this week.

"Singapore is entering a very exciting phase of growth and development in tourism and we're delighted that the Middle East is making such a strong contribution," said Ke-Wei Peh, Area Director, Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board.

"Increasingly, we are in a position to offer tailored holiday packages that appeal to regional visitors to ensure that they make the most out of their time in Singapore," he added.

Singapore's variety of unique holiday experiences is well-represented at this year's ATM. One of the major exhibitors is Singapore's only destination spa resort, The Sentosa Resort & Spa.

Perched high atop a cliff amid stunningly landscaped tropical gardens, The Sentosa Resort & Spa is one of Asia's best kept secrets. With its award-winning Spa Botanica and new Seven Eden Wellness Centre, the low-rise colonial style luxury resort property with beach access is also adjacent to two 18-hole championship golf courses.

For those seeking an adrenalin rush, representatives from Sentosa Island will also be present at the exhibition, looking to promote their plans to develop the largest theme park in Asia.

Additionally, renowned hotels and resorts including the Ritz Carlton; the Four Seasons Hotel; first time exhibitors Raffles Hotel; Park Hotel Orchard; and Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa will be making their way over for the ATM.

Top of the line travel providers Uniglobal Holidays; Discovery Holidays; and The Traveler will be present throughout the event, alongside Millennium Tours & Travel; Look Asia Holiday; and Tradewinds Tours & Travel will also be on display.
