- PRESS RELEASE
To review the activities of 2006-2007 and honor their top retailers, Muscat City Centre hosted their Annual General Meeting on 24th of April at the Crown Plaza.
The venue livened up with the vibrant house colours of the mall as almost 100 retailers, tenants and representatives came in to attend Muscat City Centre's 2007 AGM.
The AGM reviewed 2006 results & performance in thorough details with meticulous insights into the malls performance in terms of sales, footfalls and achievements.
Even though footfalls dropped by 9%, Muscat City Centre recorded a stunning 13 per cent rise in sales. Extensive research had shown that the increase in sales despite a decrease in footfalls was due to the fact that the average expenditure per visit had gone up considerably while the number of browsers segment had decreased by 35%. These results proved that more true value customers were coming into the mall to shop.
"With dedicated staff, new branding, over 500 metres of attractive signage and hoardings, more than 100,000 giveaways, shaded walking paths and many more such developments, we have managed to minimize the inconvenience due to expansion for our customers. We have set even more stringent targets for 2007 and are committed to repositioning Muscat City Centre as Oman's biggest shopping mall," assures Ibrahim Al Qasmi, General Manager of Muscat City Centre.
The AGM wound up with special awards for the retailers. The awards were divided into two broad categories - Sales Awards and Customer Service Awards. In the sales category, Magic Planet took home the award for the Best Major Anchor Store, KFC for Food & Beverage, Pierre Cardin for fashion and Damas for jewellery among a host of others. In the Customer Service category, Adams, Himat, Claires, Bank Muscat, and Starbucks were some of the winners. Areej Muscat is the Most Improved Retailer and Sammy Mohammed, GM Carrefour won the Best Store Manager Award.
