- PRESS RELEASE
The Offset Program Bureau (OFFSET), in collaboration with the Embassy of Turkey, will hold a workshop on the Turkish defense industry, May 6-7, at the Millennium Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
Two-way non-oil trade between the UAE and Turkey has witnessed significant growth, soaring from $ 350.9 million in 2000 to $ 2.2 billion in 2006. UAE exports to Turkey surged from $ 35 million in 2000 to $ 322.2 in 2006, while its imports from Turkey rose from $ 315.9 million to $ 1.9 billion within the same period.
"The UAE and Turkey have been able to forge profound ties of friendship and cooperation. We think it is time that private sectors in both countries should seek to tap the opportunities available in each country for joint cooperation in all fields. The workshop offers a chance for them to showcase new products and services and identify new areas for business," said Mohamed Saif Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer of OFFSET.
Leading Turkish companies, including Rokestan, FNSS, Aselan, BMC, Havelsan, STM, Tai Milsot, and MKEK will display their latest products during the workshop. The event will also feature a number of presentations focusing on specific defense products, such as land vehicles, naval vessels, UAVs, electronics & communications, and rockets & ammunition.
