First Motor Company launches new Chery models in KSA

The ceremony was held at the company's showroom at The North Ring Road, Exit 5, in Riyadh. First Motors Company is a member of Fawaz Alhokair Group of Companies. Its first showroom was opened in June 2005, which housed also a maintenance center, spare parts warehouse and parking area for customers.

The four new models launched yesterday were the Chery A5, Chery Eastar, Chery V5 and the SUV Chery Tiggo.

Dr. Yousef Elias Maroun, Chief Operating Officer of First Motor Company, said: "Getting the dealership of Chery Motors for Saudi Arabia is an additional brick in Saudi-Chinese economical relationships. It will strengthen these relationships and push them forward, particularly in the light of the distinguished political relationships between the two countries."

He pointed out that Chery Automobile is one of the largest passenger carmakers in China, and tops Chinese manufacturers of passenger cars in terms of export figures. In the past two years, he said, its sales grew by 90 percent, which is a tremendous and promising growth rate in the automotive industry, adding that "it is among the world's most exciting carmakers with new models, and ambitious future plans that will cater to the needs of most consumer segments for both personal and business use."

Chery A5 comes in 1.6 and 2.0 liter engines, equipped with ABS and EBD Breaking system, front air bags and highly effective air conditioning system. It has several optional features such as electric windows, central locking system, remote key, rear sensors and aluminum wheels.

Chery Easter is a luxury family sedan car. It is comes in two engines of 2.0 and 2.4-liter capacity, respectively, with either manual or automatic transmission, ABS and front air bags. Other optional equipment includes electronically-controlled air conditioner, electric leather seats, DVD player with 3 LCD screens, navigation systems GPS, camera with rear sensors and rear electric curtain.

Chery V5, the new model introduced for the first time this year, is a crossover seven-seater family sedan. It is equipped with most luxurious and comfortable equipment in addition to innovative interior and exterior designs. The car is also powered with Mitsubishi 2.4-liter capacity engine, automatic transmission, 7 leather seats, sunroof, electric windows, ABS and front air bags. Other optional equipment includes DVD player with 3 LCD screens, navigation system (GPS), rear sensors and 16" aluminum wheels.

SUV Chery Tiggo, on the other hand, provides comfortable and reliable driving both on-road and off-road. The car is also powered with Mitsubishi 2.4-liter capacity engine, 4-wheel drive system (optional), manual or automatic (optional) transmission as well as ABS, EBDS, front air bags, luxury sound system with 6 CD and 16" aluminum wheels.

Dr. Maroun moreover said that the First Motor Company set up a kingdom-wide expansion plan, "in view of our commitments toward Chery Automobile international plan and in parallel with its commitment toward its clients to provide new models of highest quality, supported with affordable financing programs and best after sales services."

He disclosed that initially, the company started the establishment and development of 7 car showrooms in major cities in the Kingdom, "regarded as an unprecedented step in the field of developing sales center network in the Kingdom in a very short period of time — in less than a year."

Dr. Maroun stated that showrooms development is in accordance with the highest international architectural and designing standards, stressing that development will also include the establishment of a strategically-located central warehousing zone in each region and advanced logistic centers for storing and preparation of cars in all provinces.
