HMSDC's CME programmes get official DOHMS recognition

The Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) has granted official recognition to Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes offered by the Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research.
Dr. Adnan Abdulkarim Julfar, Director of Continuing Education Department at DOHMS, said: "DOHMS' approval is based on the quality of the CME programmes accredited by HMSDC. We are sure all HMSDC accredited programmes will add to the professional development of healthcare workers in Dubai and the region."
Welcoming the accreditation, Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) said: "The credits and our association with the CME and CPD are integral in keeping healthcare professionals up-to-date with the developments in their specialties.
"These programmes also enable them to provide healthcare of the highest standard and to keep up to date with the latest developments in health care."
Dr. Robert Thurer, Chief Academic Officer of HMSDC, said: "The recognition of HMSDC's credits reinforces our contribution in bringing the world's best practices to the region. It also recognises the tools we offer to provide healthcare professionals special knowledge in their areas of expertise to strengthen medical practice in the UAE."
The basic purpose of CME and CPD programmes is to improve the performance of healthcare professionals and enhance the care that patients receive.
CME consists of educational activities that serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, professional performance and relationships of physicians and other healthcare professionals.
CPD emphasises professional development covering activities undertaken by a variety of healthcare professionals, aimed at a wide range of competencies and attributes.
