To address the issue of integrating functionality and convenience, Fujitsu Siemens Computers today launched its latest LIFEBOOK P7230 notebook, which tackles the portability concerns of today's professional road warriors.
The LIFEBOOK P7230 is the smallest and lightest notebook equipped with a modular bay currently on the market. Thanks to the second battery and the integrated Eco Button, the battery lifetime can be extended to approximately one working day.
'Despite the growth of the smartphone market, most mobile professionals are reluctant to give up their notebooks; they use smartphones as a supplement to doing 'real work' on a laptop. While some users will review documents using smartphones' Acrobat or Word viewers, most are reluctant to make edits or work exclusively on documents from their smartphones. This demonstrates that notebooks are still relied upon more heavily from a productivity perspective than handheld devices,' said Andrew Lamb, Volume Products Manager, Fujitsu Siemens Computers (Dubai).
'The new LIFEBOOK P7230 has been optimised to meet the needs of regional business people who spend a lot of their time on the road and are looking to accommodate as many functions as possible on a compact, lightweight notebook. To optimise efficiency, they also need notebooks with long battery lifetimes and fast, uncomplicated access to the internet. Advances in Bluetooth technology and the growing availability of Wi-Fi access in public areas increasingly allows business people to remain in contact while retaining the flexibility of working from a laptop. Communications flexibility is core to the LIFEBOOK P7230,' Lamb continued.
The LIFEBOOK P7230 comes with an integrated ConfCamera for videoconferences, and offers integrated UMTS/HSDPA. The simple but elegant LIFEBOOK has a 10.6-inch screen and weighs a mere 1.25 kilos.
Lamb added:
'Notebooks are much more relied on for their processors, memory, storage and larger keypads, which enable greater efficiency and speed. It is also easier to view work on a larger screen. Notebooks are now fighting off handheld competition by becoming smaller, lighter, and more functional. An increasing number of establishments are ripping out desktops as they go through replacement cycles, and prefer providing employees with notebooks rather than a combination of desktops and handhelds.'
Mobile internet access via the LIFEBOOK P7230 is supported by its integrated WLAN and Bluetooth, as well as by UMTS/HSDPA. The built-in camera and the 10.6-inch widescreen with the latest LED background lighting allows for exceptional videoconferencing capabilities.
In addition to outstanding versatility and functionality, the LIFEBOOK P7230 places special emphasis on style ¯ both for the notebook and for the person carrying it. The black magnesium housing and clear simple form underscore the compact, elegant design: the whole unit is smaller than a sheet of A4 paper and not even three centimeters in height.
