DCC MENA workshops highlight brand strategies in retail

Digital Consumer Channel Middle East and North Africa (DCC MENA), the defining channel event for the IT retail sector to be held from 15th-17th May 2007 at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort, Fujeirah, will host a series of workshops on the final day of the event.

The workshops will be conducted by industry insiders and cover topics of interest both to the vendors and the retailers.

"Every year we discuss with the market leaders in this region and research the topics that are of interest to the industry and attempt to cover some of the key issues in our workshops," said Farouk Hemraj, CEO and co-founder of DISTREE Events. "This year is no exception. We have topics that cover a wide range of topics centred mostly on handling brands and technological diversity."

Some of the topics which will be covered at the workshop include "Playing the China Card" hosted by popular speakers Ryan Mackey and Bob Snyder from Distribution Channel; "Redefining Retail" by Rob Davie of Fitch, and "Retail brand challenges- How to overcome the market diversity" by the editors at CPI.

Carrefour will also host one of their own workshops exclusively for vendors to help them focus on the key technology areas and requirements of the chain across the region.

"Changing consumer trends and the growth of new delivery channels means it's time to redefine what we mean by the word 'retail'. It is no longer just about supply and demand or the sale of products and services to consumers. It's about putting ideas and experiences of products, services and environments into context and circulation, in ways that are innovative and convincing to today's demanding consumers. In short, retail is evolving from traditional selling to dynamic storytelling."
