The DED launched the nine eServices, which can be accessed at www.dubaided.gov.ae/eservices, in January 2007 to facilitate business registration procedures and provide an efficient, simplified environment for investors in Dubai. The initiative is part of DED's commitment to fulfil the emirate's eGovernment policies.

The DED's online Transaction Status service registered the highest usage, with 15930 customer queries, followed by Company Lookup (10150), Search Trade Names (8408), Business Set up Simulator (6571), Number of Licenses per Person Report (6533), Activity Search (5207), License Renewal Cost Estimator (3762), Fines for a License Report (1981) and the Sales and Promotions service (908).

"The interest in eServices and the increasing number of users show the DED's success in achieving Dubai's aspirations of becoming an e-driven economy," said Sultan Ali Lootah, Director of DED's Information Technology Division. "The initiative comes in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to position the emirate of Dubai as a leader in e-Economy by 2020."

"The DED offers a number of value added services in co-operation with the private and public sectors, such as the mylinkdubai.com service, which enhances communication among Dubai's business community and aims at expanding the scope of Dubai businesses," added Lootah.

Since the website's launch, the number of online visitors clocked 64703 from the UAE, 2030 from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 1836 from the United Kingdom, 1506 from the USA and 1464 from the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Informative and easy-to-use, the web services feature descriptive help text, Arabic/English support and a user-friendly layout and design. Internet users can access the information without having to go through any registration process.

More online services will be available on the website in the next few months offering primarily GROs (Government Relationship Officers) and company owners the opportunity to handle transactions online. Six more services are scheduled to be operational before the end of the year.
