Google is launching its spell checker 'Did you mean' feature in Arabic.

Google uses spell checking to check queries against the most common spelling of each word.

For example, when you decide to search for the word "consultant" and you enter it into the search box as "consltat" you will see at the top of the page (Did you mean consultant) along with possible result for the word (consltat).

Because Google's spell check is based on occurrences of all words on the internet it is able to suggest common spellings for proper nouns (names and places), users will avoid the wrong search results because of typos or misprints. Did you mean includes more words than any dictionary and offers tips for slang.

"The introduction of spell check in Arabic demonstrates that Google is committed to continued improvements and innovations for Arabic users."Said Sherif Iskander, Regional Manager, Google Middle East and North Africa.

Google currently offers many applications in Arabic language such as Google Arabic News, Arabic Gmail and Arabic Search. Google is also aiming to Arabize more of its applications for easier internet use for Arab users.
