Workshop highlights Turkish defense industries

The Offset Program Bureau (OFFSET) sponsored a two-day workshop on the Turkish defense industry, which concluded today.

The workshop, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Turkey, was held at the Millennium Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Over 50 individuals from various government departments and the private sector attended the workshop.

On the opening day, Mohammed Saif Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer of the Offset Program Bureau, welcomed the participants and explained the purpose of the workshop.

"The workshop is part of the many initiatives undertaken by the Bureau to offer opportunities for business partnerships and to keep current with the latest trends in various industrial fields," Al Mazrouei said in the speech, read on his belaf by Ghanim Al Azdi, Senior Project Manager at the OFFSET.

"This workshop and our cooperation with the UAE in general and the Offsets Program Bureau in particular signify the new Turkish approach to their Emirate counterparts. Our aim is focusing on cooperation and partnership in manufacturing. This innovative approach will be beneficial for all the parties and will lead to new opportunities not only in the defense industry but in other sectors as well," said Selim Karaosmanoglu, ambassador of Turkey to the UAE.

"The workshop came in the wake of a massive drive for sustainable development of the UAE economy. It helped enlighten local business circles about the fast-growing Turkish industries and contributed significantly in promoting and projecting business opportunities available for UAE and Turkish investors," commented Saif Mohammed Al Hajeri, Director of the Offset Ventures Unit of the Offset Program Bureau.
