GVF Oil & Gas Communications Conference attracts high profile sponsorship

The organisers of the GVF Oil & Gas Communications 2007: North Africa and the Middle East Conference have announced details of the latest round of high-profile sponsorship support for this key regional event, to be held at the end of May this year.

The sponsorship support of both Schlumberger and Alkan Telecom for this major regional event was previously announced on 11 April, 2007. These two organisations have now been joined in their support by Ericsson, Hermes Datacomms, and Hughes Network Systems.

The expanded Conference programme, focused on the communications requirements of the regional Exploration & Production (E & P) segments of the oil & gas industry, and to be held at the Intercontinental City Stars Hotel over the period 30th and 31st May, 2007, has attracted the support of these additional companies which provide mission critical applications and communications solutions to the energy sector.

"An opportunity has been created to discuss the key issues of the 2007 Conference eight-point programme through the joint commitment of the satellite and terrestrial communications industry, and the energy sector," said Martin Jarrold, Chief of International Programme Development with the GVF. Mr. Jarrold further noted that, "This commitment has been invaluably augmented by the generous financial support of the sponsoring companies, organisations which offer key services in, and for, the oil & gas E & P environment."

Ericsson is the largest supplier of mobile systems in the world and a leader in Broadband connectivity and multimedia services. Ericsson serviced its first customer in North Africa some 130 years ago and has since then established operations in each North African country to extend its reach and better service its customers.

Commenting on their support for the conference: "Following strategic acquisitions Ericsson has taken an equal strategic decision to extend its major enterprise presence in addressing vertical segments such as Oil & Gas, said Michel de Beauregard, Ericsson Head of Enterprise for North Africa. Hermes Datacomms provides communications to the upstream oil & gas industry worldwide, including the whole of North Africa and the Middle East, and offers a full range of solutions tailored to the. "OGC 2007 comes at a very exciting time for our company as we are expanding rapidly in North Africa and in the Middle East," said Giles Middleton of Hermes Datacomms. "It offers a great forum for key players to get together and identify the issues which will shape comms for oil & gas in the months and years ahead."

The leadership of the communications industry and of the oil & gas vertical market will convene for this, the 2nd Annual, Conference which is dedicated to maximising opportunities to extend the dialogue between the energy and communications industry sectors, and to advance the provision of ICT applications for the E & P segments of the oil & gas industry in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
