DM organizes strategic planning workshop

The workshop was part of the ongoing technical support offered by the Administrative Development and Quality Department to the organizational units in the Municipality in the field of strategic planning.

"The workshop was aimed at introducing the Municipality officials the basic concepts of strategic planning and improving their abilities in preparing, designing and formulating strategic and action plans for their administrative units and following up the implementation by applying modern scientific bases in this field," said Eng. Hawa Bastaki, Director of Administrative Development and Quality Department.

"The workshop included all information on the methods and requirements for formulating the strategic plan and the basics in defining, analyzing and linking the strong and weak points as well as the opportunities and threats in the internal and external environment of the organization," said Ahmed Habib, Head of Corporate Planning Unit in the Administrative Development and Quality Department, who is also the lecturer for strategic planning workshops.

"In addition to that the workshop also discussed the follow up and evaluation methods of the strategic plan. Apart from this, there were a number of appropriate scientific exercises for the participants," he said.

"The strategic plan is not considered an opulent idea, but has become a basic necessity in different fields of work, especially in government and municipal work," emphasized Habib.

Habib stressed on the importance of participating in these workshops, which will be conducted throughout the year for all the organizational units in the Municipality, to get clear indications on the importance of strategic plan in Dubai Municipality.
