- PRESS RELEASE
Leading and socially conscious Jordanian company National Paints has signed on to continue its support for the Million Votes for Petra campaign.
In sponsorship, National Paints placed a tent in Abu Alandah where its employees and workers rallied to generate interest and awareness for the campaign. The main purpose of the overall initiative is to shed more light on the rosy city and Jordan, which in return is expected to generate an increase in tourism.
National Paints has initiated and encouraged a number of various programs to create forward social movement since its establishment in 1969, strengthening that spirit in recent years. A substantial portion of its annual budget is allocated to social and cultural events that further Jordan on the regional and global levels. This includes its involvement with clubs and corporations in Jordan, including cultural, educational, and sports alliances, in addition to the group's own socially responsible initiatives.
Mr. Michael Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Board at National Paints, stated, "This is not our first contribution to the campaign for Petra to become one of the new seven wonders. We have contributed previously through different cultural festivals. It is of great interest to us to increase the general cultural awareness to Petra and Jordan. We are exceptionally supportive of this campaign."
Other National Paints initiatives include "The re-painting of Old Amman", in collaboration with the Greater Amman Municipality, Such initiatives fall in line with the company's aim to promote and add to the beauty of Amman and its history, as well as that of the areas surrounding it.
The names of the New Seven Wonders of the World will be announced in an official ceremony in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon on 7 July 2007.
