  • PRESS RELEASE

Al Arabiya today announced the results of an independent audit of Alarabiya.net, verifying its traffic figures to industry agreed standards and confirming that it is the busiest Arabic-audited website.

The audit, undertaken by ABC ELECTRONIC, confirms that alaraybia.net received requests for over 22 million pages of information (Page Impressions) in November 2006, the largest audited figure for any Arabic website to date.
Dr Ammar Bakkar, Director of New Media at MBC Group comments:

"We were confident that the auditing process would show the strength of our website. Al Arabiya has forged strong bonds the hearts and minds of millions of Arab users and the website extends this relationship; a claim we know from the feedback we receive everyday and which has now been proven by this auditing process. This confirms the need for sober, balanced reporting and up-to-date information for the Arab world."

"The audit also confirms the relevance of the information we provide to our audience. In addition to delivering up-to-the-minute political and business news, sport, and variety coverage, Alarabiya.net offers numerous venues for user-generated content, including a video blog forum for amateur movie-makers and extensive viewer comments sections on all our articles," adds Dr Bakkar.

Richard Foan, Managing Director of ABC ELECTRONIC comments: "It is highly encouraging that alarabiya.net is committed to both comparability and transparency having its site traffic figures independently verified to industry agreed standards."
