Due to be launched in the Middle East early next year are an 18.1 inch model, the L1810T, and a 15 inch model, the L1510T.

'These top-end LCD monitors can receive TV signals and deliver various multi-media features,' explained Mr P.C. Choi, Managing Director, LG Electronics Gulf FZE.

'With the new LCD monitors, users can watch TV while working on their PCs, and enjoy easy and convenient access to audio visual devices, such as video consoles and camcorders.'

The launch of the two new products is in line with LGE's determination to maintain its position as the leading monitor supplier throughout the Middle East and Africa.

'Having attained regional segment leadership, LG will now become the brand for high-end digital products by expanding its model range,' said Choi.

The 18.1 inch Flatron LCD supports all the latest features, including TV/AV reception. 'It also delivers best-in-class panel performance with high resolution, response times of 25ms and contrast of 350:1,' explained Choi.

The 18.1 inch uses digital video interface (DVI) that can receive analog signals while sending digital signals from a computer straight to the monitor. 'This ensures data from the PC is realised in sharp images without any data loss,' explained Choi.

'Conventional analog monitors require digital PC signals to be converted to analog signals, which causes unnecessary signal interception and loss of colour texture and contrast. But with the new LCD monitors supporting DVI and delivering sharper and cleaner images without any data loss, they are suitable for graphic and CAD/CAM jobs where clear, high resolution images are essential.'

A Picture-In-Picture (PIP) feature is also available on the new 18.1 inch so that users can work on their PCs while watching TV or they can watch a movie while surfing the Net. 'This allows for more efficient monitor usage and is expected to be popular among multi-tasking users,' said Choi.

The 15-inch Flatron LCD is also a multi-media model, which can receive TV and AV signals and suits diverse environments.

'Its compact and clean design, coupled with a fresh, silver-coloured exterior, makes it suitable for any type of environment while saving work space,' added Choi.
