CPC to build biggest cable company in the Middle East

The Jeddah-based company, which participated recently in the Arab Economic Forum held in Beirut as a Gold Sponsor, said that CPC has already begun legal proceedings for the setting up of Bahra Cables on an area of 200,000 square meters at a cost of SR 200 million. The laying of concrete foundations will begin late May this year.

In his speech at the Forum, Dr. Faysal Alaquil, Secretary to the Board of Directors said: "The factory planned to start its operations by mid of next year. Bahra Cables Company will be regarded as the biggest cable company in the Middle East in general and in the Gulf in particular. Its production will cover the needs of North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf. The factory will produce high and medium voltage electrical cables and other kinds of electrical wirings."

He further said "the cable factory is a substantial addition to the factories owned by CPC, which are specialized in the production of precast, steel, aluminum, wooden works and other construction materials."

Dr. Alaquil moreover disclosed the company's ongoing expansion plans, saying "CPC is in the final stage of negotiation with the Egyptian Authority for Industrial Development to develop a piece of land of 1.5 M2 located at 6th October area."

He said "on completion of negotiations, CPC- Egypt will be established in Cairo and 120 million Egyptian pounds will be allocated for the development of the said area in terms of infrastructure, sanitation, roads etc, adding that 240 million Egyptian pounds will be allocated for the establishment of factories specialized in precast concrete, steel, aluminum and wooden works."
